Meow Cosmetics IdealEyes swatches, part 2

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Here are the rest of the Meow Cosmetics eye shadow samples that I purchased. If you love purples, I highly recommend "That Cat" - it is sooooo pretty!!

Close-up swatches and descriptions from the Meow website:

That Cat: deep smoke with a sheer plum undertone

Sexy: muted smoky violet (I'm not sure I agree with this description - as you can see, this had a rosy/pink look on me - not smoky violet at all)

Tongue Tied: deep smoky plum

Anti-Social: blue-grey

Dusk: deep espresso with gold

Muddy Paws: deep rich, true purrlized chocolate with subtle metallic bronze shimmer (sorry the pic is blurry!)

Bad Girl: rich hot chocolate brown with copper and gold sheen

Krazy Kat: blue and grey and mysterious...oh my! Metallic undertones, bold depth, and high sparkle add complexity to this unique feliner!

Fornicat: brilliant aqua green/blue with sparkle

I'm alternating between throwing a fit and jumping for joy - I just found another page of eye shadows on the Meow site that I hadn't seen before - don't know how I missed them!! Now I have another list of things to buy!!

That cat had me at meow

Friday, June 18, 2010

I've been having a lot of fun playing with all of my Meow Cosmetics samples. This is an easy look that I did yesterday and I was really pleased with the results!

What I used (with links):
  1. MAC pigment "Your Ladyship"
  2. Meow Cosmetics "You had me at Meow" eye shadow
  3. Meow Cosmetics "That Cat" eye shadow
  4. Meow Cosmetics "In-cat-uation" Lush Blush
  5. MAC Whirl lipliner
  6. Korres Pink 14 Mango Butter Lipstick

I applied an eye shadow primer, then used MAC's "Your Ladyship" pigment to highlight the inner corner and also under my brow down to the crease. Then I applied Meow's "You had me at Meow" eye shadow all over the lid, up to the crease and also under my lower lashes. Next, I used Meow's "That Cat" eye shadow to shade the crease and outer corner. I also smudged a thick line (well, what I consider a thick line, LOL) of this shadow along my upper and lower lash lines. I decided that wasn't defined enough, so I wetlined the same shadow in a thinner line along my upper and lower lash lines, close to my lashes.

(I forgot to put on the chart that I used "You had me at Meow" under my lower lashes)

Initially, I was worried that the Lush Blush would be too shimmery, but I liked the way it looked. It's just a soft, dewy finish - not really shimmery at all. Seriously - if you haven't tried Meow Cosmetics, you need to get some samples!!

(And just to clarify - all of the Meow makeup was purchased by me. I haven't been given any makeup other than the 2 free samples per order that they offer every customer. I haven't been asked to review their products - I am just a satisfied customer who wants to get the word out!)

Meow Cosmetics IdealEyes swatches, part 1

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

More Meow Cosmetics eye shadow swatches! Some of my favorites are included in this batch. These swatches are from the best-selling IdealEyes collection, which are "purr-lized" shadows. The flash combined with the macro lens made the pearl sheen appear more as a sparkle. Trust me - these are really beautiful "purrl" shadows.

You had me at Meow - frosty taupe with vintage gold shimmer

Purrfect Stranger - muted dusty plum

Sunrise - light golden beige

Witty Kitty - vanilla with a subtle metallic cinnamon-copper sheen and undertone

Lucky Cat Purrl - light golden peach

Ferocious Feline Purrl - light natural golden tan/brown

Brazen Purrl - rich warm golden brown

Claws & Effect - caramelized copper with gold sheen

Unfortunately, these pictures just don't do justice to the shadows. Witty Kitty is one of my favorite shadows of all time and I will definitely be purchasing a full-size jar. Sunrise, You Had Me at Meow, and Purrfect Stranger are all gorgeous colors, too.

Check them out!

Meow Cosmetics Cat Eyes swatches

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Last week, I received a HUGE sample order from Meow Cosmetics - and they were worth every penny!! There were way too many to talk about on one post, so I thought I'd break them down into individual categories. This batch is the Cat Eyes eye shadow, which is their matte shadow. As you will see from the close-ups, they're not totally matte - which is awesome in my book. There is just the faintest hint of sparkle that is really only noticeable in the close-ups - but I think it keeps the shadows from looking too "flat". And please ignore my pasty white arm in the pictures! ;-)

Sex Object - rich, sultry taupe

Schizo - true khaki tan with a subtle rosy undertone

Hedonistic - true navy blue

Jynx - extremely dark gray

Mean - dark charcoal gray

Shadowcat - rich and velvety eggplant

Caffeine Buzz - espresso brown

I love the consistency of these shadows - and they last all day (I apply over a primer). As you can see, "Sex Object" and "Schizo" don't show up very well on my naturally pale skin - but with a sunless tan, they do. "Sex Object" is a little too cool-toned to work with my sunless tan though, so that one will probably go to Lulu. The other colors are fantastic - especially for doing smokey eyes!

As I've mentioned in the past, Meow Cosmetics' generous samples are only $1 each - their shipping is quick and reasonable - and they have frequent coupon codes. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter - and they have their own Cat Chat Forum, too.

Meow swatches coming soon: IdealEyes eye shadow (15), Feliners eye liner (2), foundations (15), concealer (6), undereye concealer (2), skinny dippers (2)

Have you guys tried Meow Cosmetics yet? If so, what are your favorites?

Meow Cosmetics blush swatches

Friday, June 11, 2010

Oh, my gosh! I am in love with ALL of these - and they just represent a small number of the blushes available from Meow Cosmetics! I like peachy-pink and pink neutral/warm blushes the best, so that's what you'll see here.

swatched on white paper just to give you an idea of the actual colors without skin tone

The Lush Blushes are described as blushes that give a glow to the skin without any sparkle or shimmer. The three colors I bought are: A Lick & A Promise, In-Cat-uation, and Kiss-and-Tell. Pretty, pretty, pretty!! I love all three of them! I'll list the color descriptions from the Meow Cosmetics website under the pictures below:

A Lick & A Promise: cherry/rose

In-Cat-uation: soft, neutral, dusty pink

Kiss-and-Tell: neutral-toned crisp sweet pink

These three are from the "regular" blush collection. This formulation is said to be sheer and luminous. Of the three colors I purchased - Harlot, Delusions, and Orgasmic - Delusions is definitely my favorite. The other two are just a bit too peachy/coral for me - but I will also note that with the swatches, I applied the blush much more heavily than I would if I applying to my cheeks.

Harlot: sheer, rich coral with tones of pink and peach

Delusions: soft, dusty, sheer pink

Orgasmic: sheer, with just enough pink, peach, tan for purrr-fection!

The Masterpiece Blushes are sheer washes of color. I purchased Midsummer's Eve and The Dream, both of which are very pretty. I like Midsummer's Eve the best of the two, but I think that's just because The Dream will be a little too light for me. I do think it would make a pretty highlight color - for cheeks or eyes.

Midsummer's Eve: strawberry-hued with rose undertones

The Dream: soft, subtle, peachy pink

These last four blushes are from the Firefly Blush Collection. The description on the Meow Cosmetics website says "Our Firefly Collection of blushes and bronzers have a creamy, dewy feel on the skin, and provide a luminescent scintillating sheen of sun drenched color and shimmer." So as one would suspect from the name and the description, these blushes have more shimmer than the others. I purchased three of the samples and a fourth was included as a free sample. The colors are: Shimmer, Spark, Glisten, & Illuminate. I love these colors, but I think the blushes are a bit too shimmery for a woman my age. However - I plan to try dusting a little translucent powder over the blush to tone down the shimmer a bit. I also plan to try adding just a little plain white mica directly to the blush powder to see if that tones down the shimmer a bit.

Shimmer: peach-pink-beige

Spark: peach-pink

Glisten: medium rosy pink

Illuminate: caramel with cherry undertones and gold sparkle and sheen
I have to tell you that I am really loving this makeup company. Great prices, great products, fast shipping, lots of sales/coupon codes - what's not to love? I've been in love with another mineral makeup company for years, so for me to say that I really love Meow Cosmetics, well, that's saying something. I've been dissatisfied with the other company of late, so I've been hoping to find another company that offered quality mineral makeup that worked for me. I think I've found it!

Have you tried Meow Cosmetics? If so, what are your favorite products?
