I'm totally in love with my latest shoe purchase! It's kind of funny, because they're not my typical style - but I still think they're cute - and they're super comfy.
They're black stonewashed corduroy Toms and I got them from nordstroms.com (free shipping & returns) for $53.95. This is my first pair of Toms, so I wasn't sure about the fit - but I just read all of the reviews & the fit guide on the Toms website.
Most reviewers said that the corduroy shoes have a more narrow fit than the classic canvas Toms - and also that they tend to stretch a little less. According to the Toms website, you're supposed to buy your Toms a little snug, with your toe at the end, because with wear, they will stretch to fit. Since I've lost so much weight, my feet are smaller, and it's annoying because I seem to be somewhere between a 6.5 and 7. I decided to order a size 7 and they fit just a little snugly, so I assume I ordered correctly.
I've worn them around the house all day & they're loosening up a bit - they're really comfortable! I think they're super cute with jeans, too! Now I want a pair of the wedges!

Payless haul!!
Wednesday, June 22, 2011
In case you didn't know, I love shoes.
Payless and I have a love/hate relationship. Sometimes, I go in the store and can't find a thing that I would wear - other times, I love everything. Recently, Lulu was looking for some inexpensive fancy black heels to wear to a wedding - so we hit the two closest Payless stores. She found shoes she liked, but neither store had her size. I didn't see anything that I liked (for me) at either of the stores - which was a bummer because it was during their BOGO 1/2 off and I had a 20% off coupon on my iPhone. Grrr...
One of the store managers was nice enough to call another store (about 20 miles away) to have them hold the shoes Lulu wanted (since they had her size). So off we went to this other Payless store. I had never been there before - but I was pleasantly surprised. They had shoes I had never seen at the other stores! Lulu got two pairs of dressy pumps and I bought 3 pairs of shoes for myself and a pair of sandals for her.
Check these out!!

These are mine - plus I bought sandals for Lulu - total $43.65!!
I couldn't pass up these classic navy pumps for $6 - total $4.80 with the coupon!! Even thought they're faux suede, they're really cute & I'll probably wear them with jeans.
I fell in love with these when they first came out a few months ago - but I didn't buy them because they weren't on sale. I'm so glad I waited - I only paid $5.60 for them with the coupon!!
I don't usually like gladiator sandals, but these caught my eye right away. I love pewter metallic and the straps on these are so delicate that the whole look is very feminine. They do tend to rub on the outer edge of my little toe if I walk in them a lot, but I really love them. $17.60 with the coupon!!
Don't you love that pewter metallic??!!

What I did on my vacation...

Can you guess one of the things I did to occupy my time while I was unable to do all of the things I normally do? Yes!! I added to my shoe collection!! Check out these shoes!!
Love, love, love!! LOL!! Is there anything better than a ton of new shoes?? I think not.
Love these brown suede booties by Nine West. Got a great deal from 6pm.com - just $35!! I searched for months before I found the perfect pair!
Lulu made me go to Payless with her one day and I ended up buying two pairs of shoes! Love these cute little navy/white check flats. They're so soft & comfy - and they look adorable with jeans. $16!!
These grey flannel Steve Madden pumps are really sexy - but they are extremely uncomfortable and almost impossible to walk in!! Another great deal from 6pm.com - just $27!!
I bought these hot Nine West black suede/patent pumps to wear on New year's Eve. They are super sexy - and pretty comfortable for heels this high. They looked great with my sequined dress - but they also look great with jeans! I picked these up from piperlime.com for $70 - I didn't have time to wait for a sale, LOL! But I love them, so it's all good.
This is the second pair that I bought at Payless - they weren't on sale, but they were only $26. They're cute in the box, but even cuter on! They'll be adorable for summer - and I just bought a cute sundress at Target that matches perfectly!
I've had these red hot mamas for a few months now, but haven't had the chance to wear them. They were marked down to less than half price at White House Black Market, so I only paid $50 for them. In case you can't tell, they're red suede and they are oh-so-fine!!

Deals on heels!!
Wednesday, November 10, 2010
I have tons of things to post about - my birthday (presents!!), makeup, skincare, books, etc., but no time to type the posts!! Argh!! LOL!
Today, I got the most awesome deal at dsw.com!! I wanted a pair of booties with a chunkier heel that I could wear for everyday/casual. I found a black pair, but I'm still on the prowl for a brown pair...
These were $54.95 - but with codes and my birthday & DSW rewards, I managed to pay $28.01 - and that included tax & shipping! Yay!!
I'm pretty sure you have to be signed up for the DSW Rewards to use the codes (it's free to sign up):
DSWSAVE gets you 30% off any single full-price item
COMEBACK gets you $5 off
SHIPR gets you free shipping on orders over $35 (but I couldn't use this one because my order total was too low once I applied all of the discounts)
I usually don't care for Born shoes (they tend to have a "manly" look and thick rubber soles/heels), but I do like these:
I would love to have these in brown, but dsw.com only has them in a size 10 (I wear a size 7). I've Googled and searched, but can't find them anywhere. Has anyone seen them anywhere else online?

Help me find these ankle boots!
Sunday, October 10, 2010
I love, love, love these ankle boots from JCrew. Well, except for the cork platform (eww!) and the $250 price tag. Has anyone seen similar boots for a better price? I love the little platform, but I hate cork, so I need something without the cork - and I love the heels on these, so I want something with similar heels.
Help?
Edited to add: I checked Piperlime, DSW, JCPenney, Kohl's, & Zappos. No luck yet!
Found these at DSW.com for $49.95, but I don't like the sole, and the suede is too "rough":

Who doesn't love shopping?
Thursday, September 23, 2010
I've been doing a bit of shopping for fall/winter clothes/shoes/accessories - and I've found some great deals!
Two of my recent purchases were a pair of boots and a handbag. I bought them both at JCPenney - and saved $78.18!!
The boots are this brownish-grey/taupe color and have a distressed look. I love the color & style, they look awesome with jeans, and they're comfortable! They were originally $90, but I paid $49.99! Woot!!
I fell in love with the bag because it's big & slouchy - and the color is soooo pretty! I'm vertically-challenged & easily overwhelmed by large bags, but this one is perfect. And it weighs next to nothing. Well, it weighs next to nothing when it's empty. :-)
It actually a bit darker than it appears in the photos. It's such a versatile color that it goes with black, brown, & grey. I have my eye on a similar style in an eggplant/plum color. This bag was originally $70, but I only paid $31.83! Double woot!!
Have any of you started shopping for fall/winter? Have you found any great deals?

Sandal search!
Tuesday, June 29, 2010
What the heck is going on? I ordered three pairs of sandals last week and I had to return them all!!
I'm really not asking for much. Just a pair of cute brown sandals. I had (well, I still have them, but they're so worn that I'm afraid to wear them away from the house, LOL) a pair of brown Dockers sandals that were perfect. They looked so cute on my feet, and they were oh-so-comfy. I wore them everywhere for a couple of years. And I've been trying to find replacements for them ever since.
I got these Anne Klein sandals from Piperlime last week - but when they arrived - well, let's just say "oh my".
Yep. They're bronze all right.Shiny Super-shiny bronze. And the edge of the footbed? Yeah. That would be super-shiny gold. Like blind you in the sun gold. And the "ornamentation"? Well, they would be really large, super-pearlized thingies. Maybe appropriate for the retirement home in Florida, but they won't work here. So back they went.
Then I saw these really cute sandals on dsw.com - so adorable! And in so many cute colors!! I ordered two - one pair in cognac and the other in black.
But no - they look horrible on my feet. The strap that goes across the foot crosses too high on my foot - it needs to be back another inch or two. Sigh. So two more back to the store.
I'm looking for something with straps across the top, sort of like these (but not in green, and not like the rest of the shoe) - but maybe also with a thong (because I find it easier to keep thongs on my feet):
And with a heel like these (or maybe a short, flat heel - but not completely flat; and absolutely no rubber soles!!):
No ankle straps, no gladiator sandals - just some cute, strappy, feminine sandals for everyday wear. Help??

New shoes!!
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
I got these Report Moxee flats from DSW a couple of weeks ago after debating whether or not to get them for over a week. I love them! They're cute with both skirts and jeans, the leather is really soft, and the shoes are sooooo comfy!
After reading reviews, I originally ordered a size 7 - my regular size. But when they arrived, they were a little too snug. I felt like they pushed my foot forward so that the peeptoe cut-out hurt my big toe. So I took them to my local DSW and exchanged them for a full size larger (the 7.5's still felt a little uncomfortable for walking) - much better!
They also have this style with a heel:
I just happened to notice that Payless has a similar pair for half the price (if you don't mind that they're faux leather):
And yes, Gus did tell me that I couldn't buy any more shoes until I had worn all of the ones I already own. I rolled my eyes to that, remember?? I've already worn these shoes several times, so I think I'm off the hook (at least this time, anyway).

Shoe ho(arder)...
Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Gus thinks I'm a shoe ho. He tried to lay down the shoe law to me the other night. He said that I wasn't allowed to buy any more new shoes until I had worn (at least once) all of the ones I already have in my closet.
Hmmmm.
Then he said that I couldn't try to fool him because he knew which ones hadn't been worn because they weren't scuffed on the bottom. I told him that didn't mean they hadn't been worn - just that they hadn't been walked on. *snicker* He said, "Oh, you know what I mean." Yeah, Gus, we all know what you mean.
Last night he said that I'm not just a shoe ho - I'm a shoe hoarder. He said that I just like to have shoes in pretty boxes in my closet. He lost me at "shoes in pretty boxes" - because I was envisioning row after row of shoes in pretty pink boxes...sigh. Do you see a problem with that? Yeah, me neither.
He told me that he was going to start a blog of his own to talk about my shoe habit. I think he should call it "Sho-Ho" - a blog where loved ones of shoe ho(arder)s can come to bond and discuss life with a sho-ho.
Did I mention that he gave me a dozen pink roses? Awwwww...how sweet is that?
I bet some strappy sandals would be really cute in that same shade of pink...

Drool-worthy...
Sunday, April 11, 2010
I know I shouldn't even look at more shoes, but I can't seem to help myself. They're like crack to me. Yes, I'm a shoe ho - and I freely admit it. That's the first step toward recovery, isn't it? Yeah, whatever.
I am positively drooling over these shoes:
I am positively drooling over these shoes:

$40 at katespade.com
They're adorable!! Hint, hint!! Honey, I know you read my blog, so don't pretend like you didn't see this!! After all, Mother's Day is just around the corner!! :-)

Cocoa brown & pewter...
Friday, April 2, 2010
Another trip to Target revealed that everyone else loved the colorful bins as much as I did - because they were almost all gone!! None of the ones I wanted were left. Bummer. Can't find them online either. I may have to make a trip to Ikea or The Container Store. However, the trip wasn't a total waste. I found some shoes on sale (surprise!) for $17.99! They had several colors - a dark lavender, white, yellow, turquoise, black, fuchsia, and a silvery-bronze. I really wanted the lavender ones, but of course they didn't have them in my size - so I ended up getting the silvery-bronze ones.
They're super cute on and they have a little stretch to them, which makes them really comfy. They are much cuter on than they are on display - I almost didn't try them on - but I'm glad I did!
The color reminds me of one of my favorite Aromaleigh eyeshadows - Viburnum, from the Spring Solstice collection. They describe the color as "the perfect marriage of cocoa brown and pewter" - and it is simply stunning. I tried to get a picture of the eyeshadow next to the shoes, but I couldn't get the lighting to cooperate so that you could see the true color of both at the same time.
Now if I could just find a cute tote bag in that same color - or maybe one that just has accents in that color - ooh la la!!

Target loves me, loves me not...
Friday, March 26, 2010
I was wandering through Target yesterday, and I saw all of these cute, colorful bins! I want them all!! Target loves me...
Silly me, I was so mesmerized by the colors, I forgot to check the prices! I really want some for my linen closet and laundry room. I think purple for the linen closet and green for the laundry room. Maybe the black for my closet?
And since the shoe department is so close to home goods, I strolled over there to take a look, too. I ended up getting these cute brown suede flats (on sale for $13.88) - very comfy! They had them in several other colors - black, fuchsia, dark green, muted lime/spring green, mustard, and I think there may have been one more, but I can't remember what it was...

Apparently Angus thinks they're cute, too!
And they had the most adorable rain boots on sale for $20 - but they were out of my size in the style I wanted. I checked online, but they didn't have my size there either. I've been wanting a pair of rain boots, but didn't want to pay a fortune for them, so these would be perfect. And I could have used them today! LOL! I'm starting to think the rain is never going to stop.
I really wanted these :-(
Or these :-(
but I may settle for these...
or these...
But I really, really love the pink and brown ones. Target loves me not...
